The Velocity Micro R101 is a relatively new ereader on the market, having made its’ appearance in December 2010. The really amazing thing about this electronic reader is that it is probably the least expensive reader on the market, and it’s in COLOR!
You can buy the R101 for around $100, which is a really good price when you compare this to all the other e-readers out there. And the fact that it is in color, even the Kindle is not available in color yet.
And the Micro Cruz has gotten relatively high reviews. Most of its’ ratings are within 4 or 5 stars out of 5, so it is comparatively well-liked and reviewed.
Features of the Velocity Micro Cruz Reader R101
This digital book reader is small, about 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 1/2″, about the size of a small book, and fits easily into your bag or even a coat pocket. According to the manufacturer, it’s “sleek, slim and stylish”, and it’s available in black.
But the big feature is that this little book reader has a full-color touchscreen. That’s quite different from a Kindle book reader, which still has a push-button screen and is only available in black and white. This one makes it easy to flip from screen to screen, page to page while reading your book or pulling up other places that you want to go on it.
There’s a good 800 x 600 pixel resolution, which makes the color clear and sharp, and great for reading magazines, looking at color pictures, etc. You can also flip from portrait to landscape reading depending on what you need.
The other big extra with this little Cruz reader is that you can download music, movies and pictures on it. That’s great for traveling around, take your favorite movies and load up on those books so you won’t run out of stuff to do.
You can play games on it, too, and the Velocity Cruz reader comes pre-loaded with some good apps, like the dictionary, notepad, calendar, your contacts, and more. It comes with the Borders app to download your books, and you can add on the Amazon app, or the Barnes & Noble Nook app to get even more books.
There’s access to over 2 million books, and you have access to the Cruz Market where you can download your apps, videos, and do one-stop shopping.
